The book attempts to give the history of the evolution of Islam as a world-religion; of its rapid spread and the remarkable hold it obtained over the conscience and minds of millions of people within a short space of time. It has elucidated its true place in the history of religions. The outline of the life and ministry of the Prophet is based on the Sirat-ur-Rasul of Ibn Hisham, who dies in 213 A.H. (828 C.E.) barely two hundred years after the death of the Prophet, supplemented by, among other works, Ibn Ul-Athir's monumental history, chronicles of Tabari, the Insan-ul Uyun of al-Halabi (commonly known as Sirat-ul-Halabia)
